Former Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano is reportedly close to joining Besiktas after receiving a lucrative offer that could take him away from Serie A.

Vincenzo Italiano could soon continue his coaching career outside Italy.
According to reports from Italian media, the former Bologna coach is close to reaching an agreement with Besiktas, who want their new manager in place before preparations for next season begin.
The move would represent another significant departure from Serie A, which increasingly faces competition from clubs outside Europe’s traditional top leagues.
Besiktas prepared a major financial package
The Turkish giants reportedly placed a highly attractive proposal on the table.
According to reports, Italiano would receive:
• €6 million per season
• A two-year contract
• Around €2.5 million annually for his coaching staff
Negotiations are reportedly advanced, with only final contractual details still under discussion.
If talks continue positively, official confirmation could arrive soon.
Unexpected exit from Bologna
Italiano’s departure from Bologna surprised many inside Italian football.
The 48-year-old left after failing to agree terms on a contract extension despite strong work over recent seasons.
His achievements included:
• Eighth place in Serie A in 2025/26
• Winning the Coppa Italia the previous season
• Establishing Bologna as a competitive and entertaining team

Napoli looked elsewhere

He was frequently mentioned as a possible replacement for Antonio Conte.
Ultimately, Napoli chose Massimiliano Allegri, leaving Italiano free to consider offers elsewhere.

Italiano built his reputation through aggressive football, attacking ideas, and strong player development.
Those qualities helped establish him among the most respected Italian coaches of his generation.
Now, unless negotiations collapse late, his next challenge appears set to come in Istanbul rather than Serie A.
