Boca Juniors captain Leandro Paredes has opened the door for Neymar to join the Argentine giants in 2026, saying the club is ready to “wait” as Inter Miami also pushes for the superstar.

Neymar has seen another transfer path open for 2026, with Boca Juniors captain Leandro Paredes publicly stating that the club would welcome the Brazilian superstar with open arms — and patience.
The 33-year-old playmaker is running down his short second spell at Santos, where injuries and an unexpected relegation battle have derailed his emotional homecoming. With his contract expiring early next year and the 2026 World Cup approaching, Neymar is preparing for another major move.
While a return to Europe has been ruled out, interest across the Americas is strong. Inter Miami have long been reported as favourites, especially given the possibility of reuniting Messi–Suárez–Neymar. But Boca Juniors have now stepped forward.
Speaking to Mundo Boca Radio, Paredes confirmed that he speaks regularly with Neymar and believes the Argentine giants could tempt him to La Bombonera.
“I talk to Ney a lot, we have a very good relationship. He’s at his club and we must respect that, but… we’ll wait for him if he wants,” Paredes said with a smile.
Boca are preparing for another Copa Libertadores campaign in 2026 and see Neymar as a transformational signing. But competition will be intense. Former USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel recently told GOAL that Miami could create a financial and commercial package powerful enough to bring Neymar to MLS.
“It’s a risk for any club, but if structured correctly, Neymar offers huge commercial value. MLS allows big stars to extend their careers, and playing with Messi again could be massive,” Friedel explained.
As Neymar decides his next chapter, Boca are also monitoring another potential return: Paulo Dybala. The Roma star’s contract expires in 2026, and Paredes hopes he will one day come home.
“Having a player like Paulo would be spectacular. It’s his decision — he’s about to become a father — but we’re waiting with hope,” the midfielder added.
With Neymar’s time at Santos likely drawing to a close, the race is now on between Boca Juniors, Inter Miami, and a growing list of South American suitors. What remains clear is that his next move will shape the final stage of an extraordinary career.
