Fernando Gago, ex-Real Madrid midfielder, is named Boca Juniors’ new coach as the club seeks to restore its former glory in domestic and continental competitions.
Fernando Gago, the former Real Madrid midfielder, has taken the helm at Boca Juniors, one of South America’s most storied clubs. The Argentine giant has struggled in recent years, losing its competitive edge both in domestic leagues and continental tournaments. As a result, Boca has been on the hunt for a coach capable of returning the club to its winning ways.
Following a poor start to the season, Diego Martinez was dismissed, and Gago, at just 38 years old, now steps in to lead the club where he first debuted as a player. Gago’s impressive playing career includes stints at Real Madrid, Valencia, and Roma. As a coach, he previously managed Aldosivi, Racing Club, and most recently Chivas in Mexico.
With his experience and deep connection to Boca Juniors, Gago is tasked with reviving the team’s fortunes and restoring its reputation as one of South America’s premier clubs.
