Borna Sosa is set to leave Ajax and join Crystal Palace, where manager Oliver Glasner still believes in his talent despite struggles in Italy and the Netherlands.

Borna Sosa is set to leave Ajax after being told he is no longer in the club’s plans, with a move to FA Cup holders Crystal Palace now on the verge of completion, according to Dutch media reports.

The 27-year-old Croatian full-back, who joined Ajax in 2023 from Stuttgart, has struggled to establish himself in Amsterdam and was loaned out to Torino last season. Injuries hampered his time in Italy, limiting him to just 19 appearances in all competitions.

Ajax have reportedly informed Sosa that he is free to leave, and Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner—who knows Sosa well from their time in the Bundesliga—is keen to reunite with the left-back in London.

Glasner, who managed Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, had a breakout season with Palace last year, guiding the club to their first-ever FA Cup title. He is now looking to bolster his squad with familiar and experienced talent, and Sosa fits the bill.

While his time at Ajax was underwhelming, with 25 appearances and five assists, Sosa’s performances in Germany were far more impressive. At Stuttgart, he tallied 115 appearances, five goals, and 35 assists, often praised for his crossing ability and attacking instincts down the left flank.

The potential move to Crystal Palace offers Sosa a chance to restart his career in the Premier League, and reports suggest he is not expected to resist the transfer. With Glasner's faith and a fresh environment, the Croatian could yet rediscover the form that once made him one of the Bundesliga’s standout full-backs.
