Botafogo are targeting Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti, as their new manager after sacking Renato Paiva post-Club World Cup.

Botafogo are reportedly pursuing Davide Ancelotti, the son and assistant of Carlo Ancelotti, to become their new head coach following the dismissal of Renato Paiva.

After a respectable showing at the Club World Cup, where Botafogo defeated Paris Saint-Germain before being eliminated by Palmeiras, owner John Textor moved quickly to part ways with Paiva, dissatisfied with the team’s tactical setup in the decisive match.

According to journalist Nabil Djellit, the Brazilian club has set its sights on Davide Ancelotti as their next manager, believing he could bring fresh ideas and a strong tactical foundation ahead of a crucial stage in the season.

Davide, 34, joined the Brazil national team staff alongside his father Carlo after leaving Real Madrid, following the elder Ancelotti’s appointment as national team coach. The younger Ancelotti made his first appearance on Brazil’s bench during the goalless draw with Ecuador, and was also involved in the recent win over Paraguay.

However, his role with Brazil could soon come to an end if Botafogo succeed in convincing him to take charge. The club is under time pressure, with the Brasileirão resuming next week and Copa Libertadores round of 16 fixtures scheduled for next month.

If he accepts, it would be Davide Ancelotti’s first role as head coach, and a demanding one at that. He would inherit a squad that recently lost striker Igor Jesus, who has joined Nottingham Forest.

The potential appointment would mark a significant shift in Botafogo's project, aligning the club with one of European football’s most tactically respected families.
