Brendan Rodgers will be officially presented as Al Qadsiah head coach on Wednesday after signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club.

Brendan Rodgers will be officially unveiled on Wednesday as the new head coach of Al Qadsiah, the Saudi Arabian club have confirmed.

Reports emerged on Monday that Rodgers was in advanced talks with the Saudi side, and the club followed up a day later with official confirmation of the appointment. The former Celtic and Leicester City manager has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and will take charge immediately.

Rodgers replaces Miguel González, who was dismissed on Sunday after a run of inconsistent results.

Club statement underlines ambitions

“This is truly a historic moment for the club. A coach of Brendan’s calibre and experience reflects our ambitions and the long-term vision that Al Qadsiah have as one of the leading clubs,” said James Bisgrove, the club’s executive figure and former Rangers chief executive.

League position and transfer ambitions

Al Qadsiah currently sit fifth in the league table with 17 points, ten behind leaders Al Nassr. Despite the gap, the club have attracted significant attention in recent weeks, with reports suggesting they could be prepared to break transfer records in a potential move for Mohamed Salah.

Rodgers’ appointment is viewed as a statement of intent as Al Qadsiah look to establish themselves among the elite of Saudi football.
