Chelsea’s youth-first policy continues with interest in Georginio Rutter, Brighton’s €46 million striker who could command a huge fee after a strong season.

Chelsea’s obsession with young talent shows no signs of slowing down. The latest name on their radar is Georginio Rutter, a 22-year-old French striker who has been impressing for Brighton this season after joining from Leeds United last summer.

According to Sky Germany, Chelsea are closely monitoring Rutter, who fits the exact profile the club has been aggressively pursuing since Todd Boehly’s takeover — young, promising, and already showing Premier League potential.

Standing at 192 cm, Rutter has contributed eight goals and five assists so far this season, demonstrating not just physical presence, but also technical quality and versatility in the final third. His form has caught the attention of several top clubs, but Chelsea are reportedly moving early to try and secure his signature.

Rutter joined Brighton for €46 million, and with a contract valid until 2028, any move would likely require a substantial transfer fee. Brighton, known for their sharp negotiating, are in no rush to sell — especially considering their record sale came just last summer, when they sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for €116 million.

The link to Rutter adds to a growing list of young talents already secured by Chelsea. In the next two seasons, the club will welcome Willian Estevão, Dario Essugo, and Kendry Paez, while Geovany Quenda and Denner are scheduled to arrive in 2026. The strategy is clear: Chelsea are building a squad for the long-term — and they’re not shy about paying for it.
