Bruno Fernandes could be set to make a surprising career move in the future, inspired by his former Manchester United teammate Juan Mata.

At 31 years old, the Portuguese midfielder still has plenty to offer in his professional career. With his current contract at Manchester United running until the summer of 2027, Fernandes is already contemplating potential paths beyond his time at Old Trafford.

In a recent interview, Fernandes admitted that he finds the idea of following Mata’s footsteps to Australia quite appealing. The Spanish playmaker, now 36 years old, is currently the star of Western Sydney Wanderers, one of the A-League's most successful clubs.

"This option seems very interesting and realistic to me. Juan always tells me great things about football there—the league, the stadiums, and the fans. He even sends me videos from the beach, playing golf, and enjoying the Australian lifestyle. He told me he regrets not moving there earlier. Meanwhile, I was freezing during Christmas, dealing with strong winds," Fernandes revealed in an interview with Optus Sport.

Despite the allure of the Australian lifestyle, Fernandes remains fully focused on his current commitments with Manchester United. The Red Devils are preparing for a crucial Premier League clash against Fulham this weekend as they look to climb from their disappointing 13th place position.

So far this season, Fernandes has featured in 21 Premier League matches, contributing five goals and six assists.
