Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has won the Football Writers’ Association award after a brilliant season and now turns his focus toward the World Cup with Portugal.
Bruno Fernandes has officially been voted the best player of the Premier League season by football journalists in England.
The Manchester United captain received the prestigious Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award after another outstanding campaign at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese international has been the key figure behind United’s return to the Champions League, delivering leadership, creativity and consistency throughout the season.
Fernandes has already recorded eight goals and 20 assists in the Premier League and remains one of the most influential midfielders in European football.
His performances during the second half of the campaign especially impressed journalists and supporters alike as United recovered strongly and secured a top finish.
There is also growing expectation that Fernandes could add more individual awards before the season ends.
The midfielder is considered one of the favorites for the Players’ Player of the Year award and remains in contention for the official Premier League prize as well.
Since arriving from Sporting CP in 2020, Fernandes has become one of the defining players of the modern Manchester United era.
He has already made 324 appearances in all competitions for the club and continues to build his legacy as one of the team’s most important captains of recent years.
His current contract runs until the end of next season.
Now another major challenge awaits.
Bruno Fernandes will represent Portugal at this year’s World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Portugal will face DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia in Group K, where they are widely expected to finish first.
Fernandes has already won the Nations League twice with Portugal, but the World Cup remains the ultimate dream.
The tournament could also become the final international chapter for Cristiano Ronaldo, adding even more emotion and pressure to Portugal’s campaign.
The big question now is whether Bruno Fernandes can lead his country to football’s greatest prize.
