Arsenal have reportedly failed with a £60 million bid for Bruno Guimarães, but renewed transfer interest has raised fresh concerns over Newcastle’s long-term project and midfield stability.

Newcastle have once again been threatened with losing one of their most crucial squad pieces, as Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for Newcastle’s star midfielder Bruno Guimarães.
This marks the second midfielder in Newcastle’s starting line-up to be linked with a move away this summer after Sandro Tonali was linked to a move to multiple Premier League clubs.

According to David Ornstein, Arsenal have had a £60 million offer rejected for Bruno Guimarães. It seems that the bid is considered considerably under Newcastle’s asking price and has been firmly rejected. Newcastle are currently insisting that they don’t plan to accept any offer for the Brazilian midfielder, and that he is simply not for sale.
Bruno Guimarães has become a crucial piece of Newcastle’s midfield since joining the club in January 2022. Guimarães has made over 150 appearances for the club, and has become a crucial piece of the Brazil national team set-up, and he is currently playing for Brazil at the World Cup.
Guimarães has been linked to a move away several times in the last year, including to Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. If Newcastle are forced to part with him after multiple sales, it could spell disaster for Newcastle’s project. Is Newcastle’s project falling apart?
This isn’t the first time Newcastle have been faced with losing one of their biggest stars this transfer window. First, Antony Gordon was sold to Barcelona for £69.3m, meaning Newcastle have lost one of their best attacks.

Newcastle clearly hope this is not the case for Bruno Guimarães, as they continue to insist that he is not for sale. However, if he decides to force his way out of the club, or if their scenario changes and they are forced to sell up for cash, it would be totally catastrophic for their project, especially considering they wouldn’t be able to replace him at a reasonable price. The days ahead are starting to look gloomy for Newcastle United.
