Sheffield United, led by Anel Ahmedhodžić, welcomes new ownership as American investors Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy buy the club for $135 million.

Sheffield United, one of England’s most storied second-tier clubs, has officially entered a new chapter after being acquired by an American consortium led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy. The group purchased the club from Saudi prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for $135 million, marking the end of an 11-year Saudi ownership era.

The new owners, operating under the name COH Sports, now hold 100% of the club's shares. Their acquisition also includes the club’s women’s team, hotels, and other properties, emphasizing a comprehensive takeover of Sheffield United's operations.

Rosen and Eltoukhy have already joined the club’s board of directors as vice-presidents and pledged full support to manager Chris Wilder and the sporting staff. The duo’s ambitions are clear: to guide Sheffield United back to the Premier League and ensure long-term stability.

"We are committed to the success of Sheffield United and will do everything to support the team and the management," stated the new owners.

The sale ends the long reign of Prince Abdullah, who oversaw both the highs and lows of the club, including multiple promotions and relegations between the Championship and Premier League. Under his leadership, the team earned a reputation for being resilient but struggled to maintain its place in the top flight.

Now, Sheffield United is in a strong position, sitting first in the Championship table, three points clear of second-placed Leeds United, even after a two-point deduction earlier this season. With 2023/24 Championship Player of the Season contender Anel Ahmedhodžić leading the defensive line, the Blades are favorites for promotion.

The new owners plan to invest heavily in the team and infrastructure, ensuring a sustainable model that can compete in the Premier League. In addition to backing the first team, they aim to elevate the women’s team and further integrate the club into the Sheffield community.

Sheffield United’s loyal fanbase has every reason to be optimistic as COH Sports’ acquisition signals a renewed focus on long-term success and stability, something the club has craved for years. With Ahmedhodžić and company leading the charge, the dream of a Premier League return looks closer than ever.
