Liverpool backup keeper Caoimhin Kelleher is ready to leave Anfield this summer, and West Ham is keen to secure his services in a £20 million deal.
Caoimhin Kelleher looks set to leave Liverpool this summer, with West Ham United preparing a transfer move for the Irish goalkeeper in search of more regular first-team football.
West Ham lost 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in a tight Premier League clash, where Virgil van Dijk’s late goal snatched the win after Andy Robertson’s own goal had levelled the match. But behind the scenes, the London club are working on a summer swoop for the Reds' second-choice goalkeeper.
Kelleher, 26, has kept four clean sheets in 10 Premier League matches this season while deputising for the injured Alisson Becker. Despite his solid performances, he remains second in the pecking order and is understood to be seeking a permanent move in pursuit of regular game time.
According to The Sun, Liverpool are demanding £20 million for the Republic of Ireland international, who has made just 67 senior appearances since debuting in 2018.
West Ham see Kelleher as a potential upgrade on both Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski. Areola has registered only three clean sheets in 21 league appearances, while Fabianski has managed two.
Kelleher has proven himself in high-pressure matches. He notably helped Liverpool lift the Carabao Cup last season, keeping a clean sheet in the final against Chelsea at Wembley. Earlier this month, he also starred in the Merseyside Derby win over Everton.
With Graham Potter expected to oversee changes at the London Stadium this summer, Kelleher could become a key figure in the club’s rebuild.
