Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti downplayed the significance of his side's 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in their pre-season 'El Clasico' in New York, marking the fourth consecutive loss in these friendlies.
Speaking in the mixed zone, Ancelotti remarked, “I think in these games the result is the least important thing.” Barcelona's Pau Victor was the standout player, scoring twice, while Nico Paz scored for Real Madrid.
Ancelotti emphasized that the pre-season focus is on player preparation and integrating returning players. He noted, “We continue with the line of the pre-season, of giving playing time and preparing the players who are coming back little by little. Now we are happy that Vinicius has returned well, Militao too. Next game Rodrygo will also start playing.”
The coach praised the performance of the young players, stating, “There are a lot of youngsters in the squad who are doing very well. The most positive thing has been the youngsters, who have shown talent and personality.” He specifically mentioned Endrick, advising him to adapt calmly to the team. “He doesn’t have to prove anything. We are convinced that he is a great talent,” Ancelotti added.
Regarding the absences of stars such as Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and others, Ancelotti confirmed they will return to training and be available for the European Super Cup against Atalanta on August 14.
