How will the Italian coach fare at the Spanish giant? In the next ten days, the team faces two demanding tests at home and in Europe.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti could almost field an eleven of injured players at Real Madrid. Currently, the only thing preventing this is the fact that he has all his goalkeepers available. Jokes aside, the royal club is currently missing as many as ten players. Important members of the starting eleven are missing, as well as useful rotational players, and Ancelotti will hope that the situation improves in the coming week. In exactly seven days, Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad away.
It should be added that the Madrid team hasn't started the new season of the Spanish La Liga with the greatest vigor, where they are defending the champion title this year. They haven't lost yet, but two draws along with two wins are still less than expected. They have four points less than Barcelona (1st place).
Currently absent are: Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos, Aurelien Tchouaméni, Ferland Mendy, Arda Güler, David Alaba, Eder Militão, Jesús Vallejo, and Juan Martínez. The midfield is thus significantly depleted. However, it's also true that Ancelotti has often proven himself in such situations in the past. Will he do so again this time?
After the match with Real Sociedad, the first game in the group stage of the elite Champions League follows. Here too, Real Madrid is, of course, the defending champion, and in the first match, they will face Union Berlin, who surprised in the previous Bundesliga season.
