Antonio Cassano sparked controversy by claiming Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football, leading to a sharp response from Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro.
Former player for Roma, Milan, Inter, and Real Madrid, Antonio Cassano, known for his direct and controversial statements, recently criticized Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is the only player in football history to surpass 900 goals in official matches, but that didn’t stop Cassano from claiming that "Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football."
The 42-year-old former Italian international appeared on the podcast Viva el Futbol and commented on Ronaldo’s playing style: "Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football. He can score 3000 goals, I don’t care… Higuain, Aguero, Benzema, Lewandowski, Ibrahimović, and Suarez know how to link up with the rest of the team. They know how to play, while Ronaldo’s only concern is scoring goals."
Ronaldo's sister: "Just imagine how good he’d be if he knew how to play!"
These words from Cassano caused outrage among many, including Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro. She shared her thoughts on Cassano and her brother on Instagram.
"I don’t know this poor guy, and I don’t care about him. They tell me he was a footballer, but I think they’re mistaken. He was a ball boy. But I’ll tell you one thing: if Cristiano doesn’t know how to play, and he scored 900 goals, just imagine how good he’d be if he knew how to play!" she said.
