Chelsea's head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, recently expressed relief that his team is not participating in any European competitions this season, citing the club's injury woes and the intense schedule of such tournaments.
This candid admission came ahead of Chelsea's Premier League match against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

After a disappointing finish in the 12th position last season, Chelsea failed to qualify for European football this year. This has allowed the team to concentrate solely on domestic competitions. However, the lack of European games has not necessarily translated into better performance in the league, with Chelsea currently languishing in ninth place in the Premier League standings.

Pochettino highlighted the team's struggles with injuries, noting that having to compete in Europe would have exacerbated their difficulties. "Imagine if we had European games to contend with as well? With all these injuries? We are in a situation where we are missing eight to ten players for each game. If we had more matches to play, we would now be in very big trouble," Pochettino explained.
