Chelsea could face a busy January transfer window, with record signing Mykhaylo Mudryk among those potentially set to leave Stamford Bridge.
In January 2023, Mykhaylo Mudryk made headlines with his high-profile move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Chelsea, but the Ukrainian winger has struggled to make his mark in the Premier League. Despite showing glimpses of his talent during his debut against Liverpool, a full breakthrough has yet to materialize.
Mudryk, who has scored only seven goals in 62 appearances for Chelsea, appears to be out of favor under the leadership of Enzo Maresca. This season, he has only managed two Premier League appearances, totaling just over an hour of playtime.
According to TeamTalk, the 23-year-old is now desperate to leave Stamford Bridge, and Marseille, where Roberto De Zerbi—formerly of Brighton—has taken over as manager, could be a potential destination. De Zerbi is reportedly a big fan of Mudryk, and sources suggest a move away from Chelsea is "very likely."
A loan spell in Marseille seems the most likely option at the moment, although it is unrealistic to expect Chelsea to recover the full £88 million they paid for Mudryk.
This potential departure comes as Chelsea continues their clear-out. The club sold Conor Gallagher, Romelu Lukaku, Ian Maatsen, and Omari Hutchinson over the summer, and TeamTalk suggests more players could follow, including Axel Disasi, Benoît Badiashile, and Ben Chilwell.
