Cole Palmer was spotted in Ibiza after Thomas Tuchel left the Chelsea star out of England's World Cup squad.
Cole Palmer appears to be leaving football frustrations behind, at least for a few days.
The Chelsea attacker headed to Ibiza after missing out on Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Palmer was one of the biggest names excluded from the final 26-player selection, ending hopes of appearing at his first senior World Cup.
Instead of joining the squad in the United States, the 24-year-old chose rest and sunshine.
Photos from the Spanish island showed Palmer spending time with nightlife entrepreneur Wayne Lineker at one of Ibiza's beach clubs.
Wearing his trademark jewelry and relaxed summer outfit, Palmer appeared far removed from the pressure of the past year.
This is not the first time Ibiza has become part of Palmer's offseason routine.
He also spent time there last summer before quickly returning for preseason commitments.
This break probably feels different.
The last 12 months have been difficult.
Palmer's season by numbers:
• 10 Premier League goals
• Five penalties among those goals
• Injury setbacks throughout the campaign
• Lower output compared to previous season
The former Manchester City player struggled to recreate the explosive form that pushed him into England contention in previous years.
Physical problems and heavy workloads appeared to catch up with him.
Meanwhile, England have already started preparations under Tuchel.
The squad arrived in Florida earlier this week and immediately trained in temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius before friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica.
England's World Cup group campaign will later include matches against Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
Palmer will watch from home.
After almost nonstop football since his breakthrough season, this may become his first real opportunity to recover both physically and mentally before returning for another demanding campaign.
