Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk received another driving ban after being caught behind the wheel of his £140,000 BMW with illegally tinted windows while already suspended from driving.

Mykhailo Mudryk has been handed another driving ban after police caught him driving his £140,000 BMW M8 in west London despite being disqualified from the road.

The 24-year-old Chelsea winger was stopped by officers in Chiswick on October 2 while behind the wheel of a car with Ukrainian registration plates and what prosecutors described as “dangerously tinted windows.”

Checks revealed Mudryk had already been given a six-month driving ban in August for speeding offences, and he was found to have no valid licence or insurance at the time of the stop. The tints on his car’s front windows allowed just 10 per cent of light through, well below the legal limit.

Mudryk told Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court he had no choice but to drive himself to training that day because his chauffeur was unavailable. “It’s not particularly easy for him to use public transport as he is high-profile,” his lawyer Daniel Higgins explained, adding that the player had endured “a difficult year” and wasn’t thinking clearly.

The Ukrainian international, who appeared in court wearing a black suit, admitted to driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and using a vehicle in a dangerous condition. Magistrate Sonia O’Connor told him: “You must pay your fine today at the court. You cannot drive.”

Mudryk received a 12-month community order including 60 hours of unpaid work, a one-year driving ban, and was ordered to pay £199 in fines and costs. His BMW M8 was also seized by the police.

The incident adds to a turbulent spell for the player, who remains suspended from football after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium in October 2024 — the same drug that saw tennis star Maria Sharapova banned. He now faces a potential four-year ban from the sport.

Mudryk, who joined Chelsea in 2023 for £97 million from Shakhtar Donetsk, remains on his reported £97,000-a-week wages despite the suspension. Before his ban, he made 73 appearances for the Blues, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.

Since being sidelined, the Ukrainian has been seen attending Chelsea events and working on a film project alongside Croatian manager Igor Jovicev, still wearing his club tracksuit. But his off-field controversies continue to overshadow a career once full of promise.
