Cody Gakpo paid tribute to Kaka’s famous Champions League celebration after scoring Liverpool’s third goal in their 5-1 victory against Tottenham at Anfield.
Cody Gakpo recreated Kaka’s iconic celebration after scoring in Liverpool’s emphatic 5-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday, a victory that sealed the Premier League title for the Reds.
After netting Liverpool’s third goal just before halftime, Gakpo removed his shirt to reveal the message "I belong to Jesus", pointing to the sky in a gesture that mirrored Kaka’s memorable celebration after AC Milan’s 2007 Champions League final win over Liverpool.
Dominic Solanke had given Tottenham an early lead, but Liverpool responded in style. Luis Diaz equalized, Alexis Mac Allister fired Liverpool ahead, and Gakpo’s header made it 3-1, sending Anfield into full voice before the break.
Celebrity fans were also on hand to witness history, with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Owen Cooper from the British series Adolescence spotted in the stands as Liverpool equalled Manchester United’s record with their 20th English league title.
Looking ahead:
Newly crowned champions Arne Slot’s side will next visit Stamford Bridge on May 4 for a Premier League clash against Chelsea, now playing purely for pride after Liverpool’s title triumph.
