Following his sacking as Plymouth manager, Wayne Rooney embraces life away from football, shares quality time with his family, and explores new hobbies like skiing.

Wayne Rooney, the legendary Manchester United and England forward, has found a silver lining after his brief and challenging managerial stint at Plymouth Argyle. Rooney, who was dismissed after 25 games with the club struggling at the bottom of the Championship, is now enjoying a break from football and focusing on his family and personal interests.

Rooney’s wife, Coleen, shared details of his newfound hobby in an interview with HELLO! magazine. Skiing, a sport Wayne had avoided during his playing days due to professional restrictions, has now become a shared activity for the couple.

"He's just started skiing. We both went to the [Indoor Snowcentre] Chill Factore in Manchester and had a lesson," said Coleen. "I've been skiing for a few years now because of the kids, but he's never done it before. So now that’s something we're sharing together."

With more time at home, the Rooneys have been making the most of family life. Wayne and Coleen, along with their four children – including eldest son Kai, who is making waves in Manchester United’s academy – have embraced outdoor activities and workouts at home.

"We do active days out with the kids. We have days where we go to trails, and we’re lucky to have a gym in the house. We have a boxing ring that gets used a lot as well," Coleen explained.

In addition to family outings, the couple prioritizes their time together. Coleen shared how important their weekly date nights have become, especially after Wayne’s demanding schedule as Plymouth manager kept him away from home.

"We try to have a date night every week. It was hard with him being away in Plymouth. So now to have him back home is nice. Even if it's just a takeaway or a night away from the kids, we make time for each other."

Though some fans and pundits have suggested Rooney could return to Manchester United as a striker coach, the 39-year-old is currently content taking a step back from the professional football spotlight. This time away might give him a chance to recharge before deciding his next move in football.
