Coleen Rooney shares a funny story about Wayne Rooney’s tattoo mishap during their teenage years, revealing how he was unsure of the spelling of her name.
Coleen Rooney, wife of former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, opened up about their personal life, including a memorable and somewhat embarrassing moment involving a tattoo Wayne got early in their relationship. The couple, now married for 16 years and parents to four sons, began dating as teenagers.
During an appearance on Gary Neville’s "Stick to Football" show, Coleen shared the story of how Wayne decided to tattoo her name on his body. The twist? At the time, Wayne wasn’t entirely sure how to spell it.
The incident occurred when the couple was still in their teens. Coleen recalled receiving a phone call from Wayne’s cousin, who asked whether her name was spelled with one "L" or two.
"I told him it was one ‘L’ and asked why he wanted to know," Coleen explained.
"He told me he was in town with Wayne, and Wayne was getting my name tattooed on his body. That night, we went to a party for a friend’s 18th birthday. Wayne lifted his shirt and showed everyone the tattoo. I was so embarrassed."
Wayne, however, stood by his decision, saying he believed they would "be together forever."
Despite the teenage mishap, the couple’s relationship has endured, and their eldest son, Kai Rooney, is now a promising talent in Manchester United’s academy at just 15 years old. Coleen’s appearance on Neville’s show offered fans a glimpse into the lighter, more personal side of one of football’s most famous couples.
