Wayne Rooney could soon return to management. Reports suggest he is being considered for a role at Salford City.

The speculation comes as his wife, Coleen Rooney, is reportedly eager for him to get back to work after his recent spell at home.

According to an insider from HeatWorld, Coleen was initially pleased to have Wayne home following his departure from Plymouth Argyle. However, the novelty has worn off, and she is now keen for him to find a new job.

“Coleen was delighted when Wayne moved home after leaving Plymouth, as it meant they could be a family again and he could help out more. But, the novelty has quickly worn off and Wayne is getting under her feet now. Coleen runs a very tight ship, and Wayne isn’t quite as organised, which can get quite chaotic in the mornings and after school.”

Salford City and Match of the Day possibilities

There are rumors that Rooney, 39, could take over at Salford City, a club co-owned by his former Manchester United teammates. The club is less than an hour away from home, making it an ideal option for the former England captain. However, Karl Robinson is currently in charge at the League Two side.

“There’s talk of Wayne getting another managerial role at Salford City, which is music to Coleen’s ears. It’s local, so he doesn’t have to move out, but he won’t be home 24/7 and will have something to focus on.”

Another option reportedly being discussed is a role as a pundit on Match of the Day, which films in Manchester, allowing him to stay close to home.

“There’s also talk of him joining Match Of The Day as a pundit, which would be perfect as it’s filmed in Manchester, so he wouldn’t have too far to travel.”

Family concerns over Rooney’s free time

Coleen is said to be relieved to have Wayne home, particularly after his time alone in Plymouth before his sacking in December. However, sources suggest she prefers him to stay busy and under family supervision.

“They’ve decided that he can’t live on his own again. Coleen doesn’t think it’s good for him as he needs his family around, but she also knows he can’t not work.”

With interest in both management and media, Rooney’s next move could soon be decided, with Salford City and Match of the Day seen as potential destinations.
