Thibaut Courtois and Dani Ceballos are racing to prove their fitness ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Arsenal on Tuesday, after completing partial training sessions with the squad on Sunday.

Ceballos joined the main group for light ball drills and small-sided games in Madrid’s latest training session at Valdebebas, while Courtois, recovering from a recent muscle injury, returned to fieldwork alongside his teammates for the first time in over a week.

Courtois has missed the last three matches but is hopeful of making the squad for the trip to London. However, Andriy Lunin, who has started in his absence, did not train due to a calf issue, raising doubts over Madrid’s goalkeeping options.

Ferland Mendy is confirmed out and continues his recovery separately. Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao also remain unavailable, while Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended for the Arsenal clash.

Madrid’s squad was divided for Sunday’s session, with Valencia match starters taking part in recovery work, while others like Camavinga, Guler, Rodrygo, and Endrick went through a more intense workout including tactical and ball exercises.

Fede Valverde and Antonio Rudiger, who ended the game against Valencia with minor knocks, are expected to be fit for Tuesday. The final opportunity for Carlo Ancelotti to assess his squad and make tactical decisions will come on Monday in their scheduled training session at the Emirates Stadium.
