Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal in the newly revamped AFC Champions League, which has undergone a major makeover this season.
The Asian Champions League has seen significant changes, with the competition now split into two major zones: West and East, each featuring 12 teams. This new structure means the top Asian teams will face each other more frequently than ever before. This week marked the start of the second round of matches, with Ronaldo making his debut in the restructured competition.
Ronaldo's club Al Nassr secured a 2-1 home victory over Qatar’s Al Rayyan, with the winning goal coming from Ronaldo himself. This marked his 904th career goal and eighth goal of the season across all club and international appearances.
Ronaldo dedicated the goal to his late father, who would have celebrated his birthday yesterday.
“This goal felt different… I wish my father could be here today, as it is his birthday,” Ronaldo shared after the match.
