Cristiano Ronaldo’s £61m private jet flew from Riyadh to Madrid overnight amid regional tensions, while Rio Ferdinand described missile fears in Dubai during escalating conflict.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s £61 million Bombardier Global Express jet departed Riyadh overnight and landed in Madrid after reports of drone strikes targeting the US embassy in the Saudi capital.
Flight tracking data showed the aircraft left around 8 pm local time and touched down in Spain close to 1 am after a journey of nearly seven hours. The jet reportedly crossed Egypt and the Mediterranean before arriving in the Spanish capital.
It remains unclear whether Ronaldo, who lives in Riyadh with Georgina Rodríguez and his children, was on board.
The aircraft, purchased in 2024 after he sold his previous jet, accommodates up to 15 passengers. The all-black interior includes a private suite with a double bed, a shower area, and personal branding linked to the Portuguese star.
Rising regional tensions have unsettled many foreign residents. Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate, described the situation in Dubai as frightening amid missile activity in the region.
Speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand said:
"It’s frightening when you hear missiles and fighter jets above you. You want to stay calm for your kids and keep everyone as steady as possible."
He explained that his family temporarily moved into their basement after being advised to take precautions.
As geopolitical tensions intensify, the sudden movement of high-profile figures such as Ronaldo has drawn attention, even though no official statement has clarified the reason for the flight.
