Cristiano Ronaldo skipped the medal ceremony after Al-Nassr lost the AFC Champions League Two final at home to Japan’s Gamba Osaka.
Cristiano Ronaldo reacted with visible frustration after Al Nassr suffered a shocking defeat in the AFC Champions League Two final.
The Saudi giants lost 1-0 at home against Japanese side Gamba Osaka, despite entering the match as overwhelming favorites.
The financial difference between the two clubs only increased the shock surrounding the result. Al Nassr’s squad is reportedly worth almost ten times more than the Japanese side competing in the J-1 League.
For Ronaldo, the defeat represented another painful missed opportunity to win his first trophy since arriving in Saudi Arabia in 2023.
The Portuguese forward struggled throughout the match as Gamba Osaka successfully limited his influence. Ronaldo frequently dropped deeper in search of possession but failed to make a decisive impact.
After the final whistle, the 40-year-old once again became the center of attention.
According to reports from the stadium, Ronaldo immediately walked toward the dressing room and did not return for the ceremony where Al Nassr players received their runners-up medals.
The decision created criticism among supporters and observers, especially because Ronaldo is the captain of the team.
His frustration was obvious after another major disappointment in Saudi football.
Despite the setback, Ronaldo still has one final opportunity to end the season with silverware.
Al Nassr remain at the top of the Saudi Pro League standings with only one round left before the season ends.
The question now is whether Ronaldo and Al Nassr can finally deliver the trophy the club expected when the Portuguese superstar arrived from Manchester United.
