Cristiano Ronaldo sends support to Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s new coach, sharing his nickname “the poet” and wishing him success at Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his support to Ruben Amorim, the newly-appointed manager of Manchester United, who recently took charge of the Red Devils. The two share a history, having played together for Portugal, and their careers are intertwined in other ways. Both are 39 years old, and while Cristiano made his name at Manchester United and started his career at Sporting Lisbon, Amorim rose to prominence as a coach at the very same club.
Ronaldo, who previously lit up Old Trafford as a young star before becoming one of the greatest players in football history, sent a message to his fellow Portuguese:
"Ruben, I wish you all the luck in the world. Manchester United certainly needs it."
Interestingly, Ronaldo had previously referred to Amorim as “the poet,” a nickname that has sparked curiosity. While Ronaldo has never explained the origin of the nickname publicly, Amorim shed some light on it when asked by journalists after his arrival in England:
"He called me that because I like to talk (laughs)! I don’t speak a lot, but when I do, it comes from the heart, and I think people feel that."
As Amorim begins his new journey at Old Trafford, Ronaldo’s words of encouragement highlight the connection and mutual respect between two icons of Portuguese football. United fans, meanwhile, will be hoping “the poet” can script a successful new chapter for the club.
