Nasser Djiga, Crvena Zvezda’s 22-year-old defender, is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League clubs, with the Serbian champions eyeing a record-breaking €20 million deal.
Nasser Djiga, Crvena Zvezda’s 22-year-old defender, has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, positioning the Serbian champions for a potential record-breaking transfer. According to Serbian media, Wolverhampton, Crystal Palace, and Brentford are among the clubs interested in the former Basel player, who is seen as a long-term investment.
A €20 million target?
Crvena Zvezda’s sporting director, Zvezdan Terzić, recently hinted at a "historic deal" for the club, aiming for a €20 million transfer fee. While Andrija Maksimović, a promising young talent, was previously tipped to break this record, Djiga could now be the one to achieve it, given the Premier League’s reputation for spending big on potential.
Interest beyond England
Djiga’s rising profile has also attracted attention from Olympiacos, a Greek powerhouse known for scouting talent from the Balkans. However, the allure of England’s top-flight competition, combined with its financial clout, makes a Premier League move the most likely outcome.
Setting a new benchmark
The current highest transfer fee in Crvena Zvezda’s history dates back to 2018, when Nemanja Radonjić was sold for €12 million. If Djiga moves to England for the anticipated fee, it would not only break the club’s record but also mark a significant milestone for Serbian football transfers.
