Following Shakhtar Donetsk's championship win in Ukraine, Crvena zvezda will start in the Champions League play-off round instead of the group stage.
The footballers of Crvena zvezda will not proceed directly to the Champions League group stage, as has become clear following the conclusion of the Ukrainian league. After Shakhtar Donetsk clinched the Ukrainian title by defeating Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 yesterday, they automatically qualified for the Champions League group stage, pushing Crvena zvezda into the qualifying rounds.

Shakhtar entered the group stage directly due to having the highest coefficient among champions from countries that did not have direct placement based on the five-year performance.

Crvena zvezda will therefore begin their Champions League campaign in the play-off round of the qualifiers on August 20 and 27. This means they will face only one team on their path to the group stage of Europe’s elite football competition.
