Crystal Palace have submitted an offer for Bayern defender Sacha Boey, who is open to a January move after struggling for minutes in Munich.

Crystal Palace have made the first concrete move of the January window after submitting an offer for Sacha Boey, with the Bayern Munich defender understood to be open to leaving in search of regular football.

The French full-back arrived in Munich last winter for €30 million, joining from Galatasaray, but has struggled to secure a place in the starting XI. Injuries did not help his adaptation, and at 25 years old he has spent most of this season as a reserve option.

According to reports from Germany, a formal proposal from London has already landed on Bayern’s desk. Palace manager Oliver Glasner is eager to strengthen his squad, and Boey has been identified as a priority target. The player is said to be receptive to a move to the Premier League.

Boey previously represented Rennes, Dijon and Galatasaray, but has yet to debut for the senior France national team. He remains under contract at Bayern until the summer of 2028, and the German champions are expected to seek a fee between €15 million and €22 million.

Bayern open December with a DFB-Pokal tie against Union Berlin, followed by a league trip to Stuttgart. With several defensive issues to resolve, their response to Palace’s proposal will shape their winter strategy.

Palace under pressure to back Glasner

Crystal Palace will be one of the more intriguing Premier League sides to follow in January. Glasner led the club to a shock FA Cup triumph last season and secured a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League, yet summer recruitment was modest. The Austrian coach has repeatedly stressed that a team competing in Europe must invest rather than focus only on departures.

Whether Palace meet his expectations remains to be seen. Glasner’s contract runs only until the end of next season, and several English clubs have monitored him in recent months. If the board want to retain one of the league’s more sought-after managers, January may be a decisive moment.

Palace sit ninth in the Premier League and have two wins and two defeats after four games in the Conference League, with Shelbourne next on the schedule. Glasner, who previously coached SV Ried, LASK, Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, took charge at Selhurst Park in February.
