Matheus Cunha praised Michael Carrick after Manchester United’s win over Liverpool, saying the manager has brought back the energy of the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Manchester United are back in the Champions League, and the players are giving major credit to manager Michael Carrick.
After the dramatic 3-2 victory over Liverpool, Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha praised the atmosphere Carrick has created inside the club.
According to the former Wolves striker, the current mood at Old Trafford reminds him of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson era.
"We’re learning a lot. When Michael came in, he brought some magic, an energy similar to the Sir Alex Ferguson era," Cunha said after the match.
"He talks a lot about his team and about the winning mentality. That feeling is transferred to us."
The Brazilian also made clear that the squad fully believes in the direction Carrick has taken.
"We are very happy with what he gives us, and we are completely focused on the goal."
Manchester United have shown strong progress under Carrick, especially at home, where they have won eight of their last nine league matches.
Cunha described the current moment as only the beginning of a larger project.
"This is the path we expected. This is only the beginning, a good start. Everyone wants to play and win games like this."
The Brazilian also joked about his own goal against Liverpool.
"The boys joke a lot in the dressing room that I do not score enough. I was a little lucky this time, but the only important thing is that the ball ends up in the net," he said with a smile.
Cunha joined Manchester United from Wolves during the summer and has quickly become an important figure in the squad.
