Dani Olmo has taken a key step in his recovery, completing part of Barcelona’s training session on Tuesday as he aims to be available for Thursday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final against Valencia.

The midfielder has been sidelined since 18 January due to a muscle injury suffered in a match against Getafe. Medical evaluations confirmed he was dealing with an overload in the soleus muscle of his right leg, forcing him to miss four La Liga matches, including the previous fixture against Valencia, as well as Champions League ties against Benfica and Atalanta.

Olmo’s progress will determine his availability for the crucial knockout fixture. Meanwhile, his teammate Gavi trained separately in the gym as a precaution after suffering a concussion during Sunday’s league match against Alavés. The midfielder was forced off early following a collision with Tomás Conechny and later underwent medical evaluations at a hospital.

Gavi’s return to full training will depend on further assessments, as Barcelona continue to monitor his recovery.
