Las Palmas, who started the game just two points above the relegation zone, pulled off a major upset. Goals from Sandro Ramirez and Fabio Silva sealed their victory, with Raphinha briefly equalizing for Barcelona. This win lifted Las Palmas to 14th place, while Barcelona remains at the top with 34 points but only a narrow lead over Real Madrid, who have two games in hand.
A major talking point was coach Hansi Flick's decision to leave Dani Olmo on the bench for the entire match. Olmo, who has been instrumental this season with six goals in 10 games, was omitted despite Barcelona's struggle to break through Las Palmas' defense in the final 20 minutes.
According to AS, Olmo's absence remains a "mystery," though it’s suggested that Flick rested him due to minor groin issues and the demanding December schedule. Olmo had skipped part of training on Friday, raising concerns about his fitness.
