Darren Fletcher prepared a personalised video session for Benjamin Šeško before Burnley, helping the striker regain confidence and score his first Premier League brace.
Darren Fletcher revealed that a personalised video session was the key factor behind Benjamin Šeško’s standout performance against Burnley.
In Fletcher’s first match as interim head coach of Manchester United, United dominated but had to settle for a 2–2 draw. Both goals came from Šeško, who scored his first brace since arriving from RB Leipzig last summer.
A targeted message before kick-off
Šeško had been knocking on the door in recent weeks — hitting the woodwork, missing chances, and growing visibly frustrated. Fletcher explained that he addressed the issue directly in the build-up to the match.
“I’m really happy for Benjamin Šeško,” Fletcher said after the game. “The day before the match, I spoke to him. We watched video, analysed his movement, and looked at his goals. I told him he has to believe, and that his teammates need to supply him more.”
Confidence restored
The message clearly landed. Šeško did exactly what had been discussed, scoring twice and nearly adding more with a header and another close-range effort.
“Tonight he did what we talked about and scored two goals,” Fletcher added. “It’s a very positive night for him. We’re disappointed with the draw as a team, but for Benjamin, I hope this helps him grow.”
No time to rest
Manchester United will not have long to reflect. On Sunday, they return to action in the FA Cup, welcoming Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford. Brighton sit 11th in the Premier League and are led up front by former United striker Danny Welbeck, who has already scored eight league goals this season.
For Šeško, the hope is that the breakthrough against Burnley marks the start of a much more fluent run in a United shirt.
