David Beckham attends funeral of longtime Man Utd receptionist Kath Phipps

Phipps, who dedicated over 50 years to the club, began her career in 1968 as a telephone switchboard operator during the era of legendary manager Sir Matt Busby. Over the decades, she became a cherished figure at Old Trafford, earning admiration from generations of players and staff. Sadly, she passed away last month at the age of 85.

The funeral was attended by numerous United players, past and present, along with club legends David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson. Phipps’ contribution to the club was fondly remembered by all in attendance.

Beckham had a particularly close bond with Phipps. Just two weeks before her passing, the former United star made a private visit to her home to spend time with the woman who played a pivotal role in his early years at the club. The 49-year-old shared an emotional moment with Phipps during the visit, underscoring the deep affection he held for her.
