Declan Rice reacted to Arsenal's Champions League final defeat with optimism and leadership, insisting the painful experience will only make the team stronger.
Declan Rice walked away from the biggest defeat of his club career with disappointment, but also with belief.
After Arsenal's painful Champions League final loss, the midfielder once again showed why he has become one of the leaders of both club and country.
While emotions were still raw after the defeat, Rice stepped in front of reporters and focused on the future.
"In my first season, we were knocked out in the quarter-finals. In my second season, we lost in the semi-finals, this time in the final."
"It was similar in the Premier League. We finished second three times, and this year we finally did it."
His message was clear.
Arsenal's progress matters more than one painful night.
"We lost tonight, and now I feel that I want to get to the final again and lift this trophy too."
"I am sure this was not our last final. We have good times ahead, we are making a lot of progress, and we are very hungry for more trophies."
Those words fit Rice's image perfectly.
The England international has built a reputation far beyond football ability.
Rice's leadership away from football has often made headlines:
• Comforted young supporters after matches
• Personally supported families facing illness
• Regular charity and community work
• Frequently visited hospitals and schools during his West Ham years
• Publicly defended partner Lauren Fryer against online abuse
Rice has repeatedly shown the same personality away from the pitch that fans see during matches.
Calm, direct and grounded.
His relationship with childhood partner Lauren has also attracted attention in recent years after online abuse targeted her appearance.
Rice strongly defended her publicly.
"She's the love of my life."
The midfielder now quickly switches focus.
The 2026 World Cup is approaching, and England will depend heavily on Rice once again.
For now, though, Arsenal supporters will take comfort from one thing.
After suffering defeat on the biggest stage, one of their leaders already seems focused on returning there.
