Ousmane Dembele says better care, new routines, and personal stability have helped him overcome injuries and reach peak form at PSG.
Ousmane Dembele is experiencing one of the best seasons of his career—and for the first time since leaving Borussia Dortmund, he’s doing so without injury disruptions. The Paris Saint-Germain winger has made 41 appearances across all competitions, already nearing his personal best of 44 appearances set in the 2020/21 season with Barcelona.
Dembele's fitness turnaround has sparked interest, particularly from fans of his former club, who remember his constant injury struggles at the Camp Nou. The 26-year-old addressed that shift directly in a press conference ahead of PSG's Champions League clash with Aston Villa.
"I had a lot of physical problems at Barcelona. Later, I started working with some people who helped me a lot and are now working at PSG. I changed a lot to avoid injuries and so far it's been worth it," said Dembele.
He credits improved physical preparation, specialized staff at PSG, and a more balanced private life as key reasons behind his revival.
"I feel very good in my body, I also feel very good in my private life. I try to enjoy myself on the pitch, although I'm still not the biggest fan of physical work. But I know I have to do it because it will help me to be better," he added with a smile.
Beyond fitness, Dembele has delivered top-tier performances this season and hinted he could be in contention for the Ballon d'Or if PSG go all the way in the Champions League. With his pace, dribbling, and decision-making sharper than ever, the French winger is finally becoming the world-class player many expected him to be.
