Desire Doue made a poor first impression after his France call-up, arriving late to training. Didier Deschamps quickly addressed the issue, reminding the PSG youngster of the discipline required at the national level.
Desire Doue earned his first-ever call-up to the French national team ahead of the Nations League quarter-final against Croatia, further solidifying his strong season at Paris Saint-Germain. The 19-year-old has been in impressive form, making 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing 11 assists. His standout performances in the Champions League against Liverpool caught the attention of Didier Deschamps, earning him a spot in the squad.
However, despite the honor of being called up, Doue did not make the best first impression. Alongside his teammate Warren Zaïre-Emery, he arrived late for his first training session, prompting a stern but playful warning from Deschamps.
“You came with Warren? Is that why you were late? Some coaches would have sent you home immediately,” Deschamps told Doue.
While the French coach accompanied his words with a hug to show he wasn’t being too harsh, the underlying message was clear—discipline is non-negotiable at the national team level.
Doue will be eager to put the incident behind him and prove himself on the pitch, as he looks to cement a long-term place in the France squad.
