Borussia Dortmund targets Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot, using his €20M release clause despite the midfielder’s €42M market value.

Borussia Dortmund appears poised to deliver another blow to Stuttgart, their Bundesliga rival, by pursuing Enzo Millot, one of Stuttgart’s standout players. Following the summer acquisitions of Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy, Dortmund is now reportedly eyeing Millot, whose release clause allows him to leave for a fraction of his market value.

Millot, a key offensive midfielder for Stuttgart, is currently valued at €42 million. However, a release clause in his contract permits him to depart for just €20 million, a price Dortmund is more than willing to pay. This comes on the heels of Dortmund signing Guirassy for just €18 million, far below his worth.

The 21-year-old Frenchman has been a pivotal figure for Stuttgart over the past two seasons, contributing significantly to the club’s resurgence. This season alone, Millot has scored eight goals in 24 appearances across all competitions, solidifying his reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising midfielders.

Stuttgart, which reached the Champions League this season after a remarkable campaign, faces a growing challenge in retaining its top players due to these undervalued clauses. Dortmund’s strategy, while shrewd, has left Stuttgart at a severe disadvantage, intensifying the rivalry between the two clubs.
