Borussia Dortmund will pay €33m for Jobe Bellingham. After signing a five-year deal through 2030, Bellingham will play as an attacking midfielder under Niko Kovac.
Jobe Bellingham is officially set to join Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland in a transfer that mirrors his brother Jude Bellingham’s iconic move to Germany — and now the full financial details and tactical plans have been revealed.
According to Sky Sport Germany, Sunderland will receive a club-record €30.5 million (£26m/$35m) upfront, with a potential €5 million in bonuses, though only half are considered achievable. Dortmund expects the final package to land around €33 million.
Niko Kovac, the new Dortmund manager, plans to deploy the 19-year-old as a versatile midfielder, primarily in an attacking role, but also deeper when needed. His profile fits the modern high-energy, forward-thinking mold Dortmund are looking to reinforce post-Jude Bellingham era.
Jobe Bellingham has signed a five-year contract until 2030, with an annual salary of €3.5 million, increasing incrementally throughout the deal — a structure similar to his older brother's previous agreement at Signal Iduna Park.
Originally slated to feature for England U21 at the European Championship, Bellingham will now travel to the Club World Cup in the USA instead. Dortmund open their campaign on June 17 against Brazilian side Fluminense.
The deal shows Dortmund’s continued commitment to developing elite English talent, while Sunderland’s record windfall highlights Jobe’s rapid rise and growing international profile.
