Football legends Dragan Stojković and Keisuke Honda reunited in Belgrade, reminiscing about their shared history in Japan, where their paths first crossed at Nagoya Grampus.
In the heart of Belgrade, a special reunion took place between Dragan Stojković and Keisuke Honda, two football greats whose paths first crossed in Japan. Honda, a former Japan international and AC Milan star, was in the Serbian capital on business but made sure to reconnect with the Serbia national team coach, a figure he has long admired.
Their connection dates back to 2008, when Honda had the chance to work under Stojković at Nagoya Grampus, but instead, he opted for a move to Europe, progressing through the Netherlands and making his name with CSKA Moscow. His success led him to AC Milan, where he became a key figure, while also playing a crucial role in Japan’s 2011 Asian Cup triumph.
On the other hand, Stojković cemented his legacy as a coach in Japan, guiding Nagoya Grampus to their only J1 League title in 2010.
Their meeting in Belgrade is a testament to the lasting friendships built through football—a sport that unites beyond borders and generations.
