FOX Sports is offering €58,000 to one fan willing to watch every World Cup match and post reactions online.
FOX Sports has launched one of the most unusual football jobs ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
The American broadcaster is offering approximately €58,000 to one selected football fan who will watch every single match of the tournament and create content throughout the competition.
The chosen candidate will follow all 104 World Cup matches live while regularly posting reactions, opinions and behind-the-scenes content on social media platforms.
The project has been named “The Main Observer of the World Cup”.
FOX plans to place the selected fan in a specially designed viewing area at Times Square in New York, where all matches will be shown in 4K quality.
The role goes far beyond simply watching football.
The broadcaster expects the winner to actively engage with audiences online during the entire tournament by sharing reactions, analysis and emotional moments from the matches.
Robert Gottlieb, FOX Sports President of Marketing, explained the idea behind the project.
“This World Cup will be historic and requires an equally unique approach. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to experience and share every story, every team and every unforgettable moment,” Gottlieb said.
FOX has also strengthened the project by bringing in former football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimović, who will work as an expert commentator during the tournament.
The broadcaster hopes the initiative will create a stronger connection between fans and the competition through social media storytelling and live interaction.
Interested applicants can apply through the Indeed platform, with the deadline for submissions set for May 17.
For football fans, it may be one of the few jobs in the world where watching matches all day officially becomes full-time work.
