Dušan Vlahović could continue his career in Serie A, with Napoli emerging as a serious contender for the Serbian international's signature.
The 25-year-old is currently a free agent following the end of his contract with Juventus, and his future remains one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window.
According to reports in Italy, Napoli are looking to strengthen their attack as uncertainty continues to surround the future of Romelu Lukaku, who is reportedly unwilling to remain at the club if he is no longer guaranteed a starting place.
Italian media claim that head coach Massimiliano Allegri believes Vlahović would fit perfectly into his tactical plans.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna is said to have already held discussions with the Serbian striker's representatives earlier in the summer. Both parties reportedly agreed to resume talks if Vlahović failed to secure a move elsewhere.
According to the latest reports, those contacts have now resumed.
If both Romelu Lukaku and another attacking option leave Napoli before the transfer window closes, Vlahović is expected to become one of the club's primary targets and could form a new strike partnership with Rasmus Højlund.
The biggest obstacle is expected to be the financial package. While Vlahović remains determined to continue playing in one of Europe's top five leagues, he has already received lucrative offers from abroad.
Beşiktaş reportedly offered the Serbian international a three-year contract worth €10 million per season, plus performance-related bonuses. However, Vlahović's priority is believed to be staying at the highest level of European football.
Whether Napoli can match the striker's financial expectations remains to be seen, but the Serie A champions appear ready to make their move if their attacking squad changes before the end of the transfer window.
