Dušan Vlahović has left Juventus for Besiktas, and an Italian calculation claims the Serbian striker cost the Turin giants more than €162 million during his spell at the club.

Dušan Vlahović has started a new chapter of his career at Besiktas, but in Italy they are still calculating the enormous financial cost of his years at Juventus.
The Serbian international has officially been presented by the Turkish giants after receiving a spectacular welcome from Besiktas supporters in Istanbul. Vlahović signed a three-year contract and will reportedly earn €7.5 million net per season, excluding bonuses.
While Besiktas fans celebrate their new star striker, Gazzetta dello Sport has taken a closer look at what Vlahović's Juventus adventure cost the Italian club.
The final figure is enormous.
According to the Italian newspaper's calculation, Juventus spent a total of approximately €162.14 million on Vlahović after signing him from Fiorentina in January 2022.
Vlahović produced respectable numbers in Turin, but his performances were regularly placed under the microscope because of the enormous financial investment Juventus had made in him.
The Serbian striker eventually finished his Juventus career with 68 goals in 168 appearances.
Based on the overall expenditure calculated in Italy, every Vlahović goal effectively cost Juventus approximately €2.38 million.
How did Juventus reach the €162m figure?
The biggest expense was the transfer itself. Juventus committed approximately €85.36 million to bring Vlahović from Fiorentina.
Another enormous part of the investment came from his contract. According to the calculation, his total gross salary amounted to approximately €76.78 million during his time in Turin.
Together, those two figures already reach approximately €162.14 million, before any separate additional costs are considered.
One season was particularly expensive
Italian analysts also compared Vlahović's goals with Juventus' annual expenditure on the Serbian striker.
His most efficient campaign was 2023/24, when he scored 18 goals. According to the calculation, Juventus' cost per goal during that season fell to approximately €1.81 million.
The numbers became far more uncomfortable during his least productive campaign. Vlahović scored only 10 goals, while Juventus' total annual expenditure connected to the striker exceeded €41 million.
That placed the cost of each goal at approximately €4 million.
Those numbers help explain why Vlahović's performances were scrutinised so heavily in Turin. Juventus had invested superstar money in the Serbian and expected superstar production in return.

Vlahović arrives at Besiktas with an opportunity to leave the financial debates surrounding his Juventus career behind him. At 26, the Serbian striker still has time to rediscover the form that once made him one of the most coveted young centre-forwards in European football.
