Franko Kovačević’s incredible form for Celje has sparked major transfer interest across Europe, with Fiorentina, Celta Vigo, and Sparta Prague among the clubs monitoring him.
Franko Kovačević’s blistering season has turned him into one of the hottest attacking prospects in the region. With 22 goals already — including five in the Conference League group stage — the Croatian forward has become a major transfer target for several clubs across Europe.
Kovačević flourishing under Albert Riera
Under coach Albert Riera, Kovačević has reached a level of consistency and confidence never seen before in his career. The 26-year-old has found his rhythm at Celje, combining technical quality with ruthless finishing.
“Riera unlocked his potential,” said one source close to the player. “He’s playing with freedom, belief, and maturity — and that’s reflected in his numbers.”
Currently the top scorer in the Slovenian PrvaLiga with 10 goals, Kovačević is also the leading scorer in the UEFA Conference League, with his nearest competitors sitting three goals behind. His all-round performances have even placed him on the radar of Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić, with whispers that a national team call-up could soon follow.
Fiorentina leading the chase
According to Nogomania’s information, Fiorentina have expressed serious interest in Kovačević. The Serie A side faced Celje earlier this year in Europe and saw first-hand the team’s attacking power — making Kovačević’s name stand out ever since.
While Fiorentina typically sign players from larger leagues, Kovačević’s combination of European scoring record and relatively low market value could make him a smart long-term investment. The current Transfermarkt valuation of €700,000 is considered far below his true worth, with Celje president Valerij Kolotilo fully aware that his striker’s value has risen sharply.
Celta Vigo and others also interested
Beyond Italy, several other European clubs have entered the conversation. Celta Vigo have made initial contact, while Sparta Prague and several teams from other continents are also monitoring the situation.
For now, no formal offers have been made, but intermediaries and scouts have already started to “test the waters” ahead of the January window. With every goal, Kovačević’s list of admirers grows longer — and so does Celje’s potential payday.
