Ed Sheeran has once again become part of England's World Cup preparations after performing a surprise acoustic concert for Thomas Tuchel's squad ahead of their quarter-final against Norway.
The Grammy-winning singer visited the Three Lions' training base at Meadowbrook in Kansas City, where he treated players and staff to a private performance by the hotel pool.
Sheeran performed an acoustic version of his hit song Castle on the Hill, continuing a tradition that has become a regular feature of England's major tournament camps.
The 35-year-old has built a close relationship with the national team since first visiting the squad before Euro 2021 through his friendship with captain Harry Kane.
Speaking on the Extra Time podcast, Sheeran explained how the tradition began.
"In 2021, Harry invited me to the camp. I met everyone, and I've been back for every tournament since. It's become a lovely tradition. Since that first performance, we've built a great relationship, so it's never a difficult audience."
The intimate performance was designed to help maintain the positive atmosphere inside England's camp as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
Sheeran also revealed his prediction for the remainder of the World Cup.
" I think it will be an England versus France final. Once you reach the final, anyone can win, but I believe it will be England."
England now turns its full attention to Saturday's quarter-final against Norway in Miami, where Tuchel's side will attempt to continue their impressive World Cup campaign.
The Three Lions face several selection challenges ahead of the match. Defender Jarell Quansah is suspended after his red card against Mexico, while experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a serious forearm injury during the post-match celebrations following England's dramatic victory.
Despite those setbacks, England's camp appears to be in high spirits, with Sheeran's latest visit providing another memorable moment before one of the biggest matches of the tournament.
