Edin Džeko (38), the captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, has confirmed his excellent form at the start of the new season with Fenerbahçe. The veteran striker scored his fifth goal of the season tonight in Istanbul during the first round of the Turkish Super Lig against Adana Demirspor.
The goal came in the 34th minute when Džeko masterfully struck the far corner of the visitors' goal, following an excellent assist from Allan Saint-Maximin, who brilliantly broke through Adana’s defense.
This goal adds to Džeko's tally, which already includes goals scored during the Champions League qualifiers. His season started with a hat-trick against Lugano in the away leg, followed by another goal in the return leg against the Swiss club.
Just four days ago, Džeko played 78 minutes in Fenerbahçe’s 2-1 loss to Lille in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, though he did not score in that match.
