Real Madrid’s furious ending to El Clasico: three red cards, object thrown at referee.
Tensions were sky-high during the El Clasico in the Spanish Cup final, especially in the final minutes. Real Madrid players completely lost their composure, and several unsportsmanlike incidents occurred. Among other things, an object was even thrown toward the referee from the Madrid bench.

In the official post-match report, referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea noted three expulsions — all involving Real Madrid players. Antonio Rüdiger, Lucas Vazquez, and Jude Bellingham were all punished. Their specific offenses are detailed below.

It initially appeared that Vinicius Junior had also been sent off, just moments after Rüdiger, but the referee did not list this in the official report, nor is it recorded on the Spanish Football Federation’s official website. It is still unclear at this point whether the Brazilian will face suspension.

On the other side, Barcelona — who won the El Clasico 3-2 and lifted the trophy — had no players sent off. French defender Jules Kounde scored the late winner for the Catalan club.

Here are the explanations for the red cards issued to Real Madrid players:

Antonio Rüdiger:
"In the 122nd minute, Antonio Rüdiger (number 22) was expelled for throwing an object toward me. After being shown the card, he had to be restrained by several Real Madrid staff members, as he displayed a high level of aggressive behavior."

Lucas Vazquez:
"In the 120th minute, Lucas Vazquez (number 17) was expelled for strongly protesting a decision made by the officiating team. He stepped several meters onto the pitch from the bench and gestured in disagreement."

Jude Bellingham:
"After the final whistle, Jude Bellingham (number 5) was expelled for entering the field and confronting the referees in an aggressive manner, and had to be restrained by his teammates."
