Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in an El Clasico held in East Rutherford as part of both teams’ pre-season tour in the United States.
Pau Victor scored both goals for Barcelona, while Nico Paz netted the only goal for Real Madrid. Real Madrid captain Luka Modrić played the full 90 minutes.
The match was interrupted for over an hour due to lightning and thunder in the area, starting as early as the 11th minute. Modrić requested the referee to continue the game, assuring him that it was safe, but ultimately both teams were directed to the locker rooms during the delay.
Pau Victor put Barcelona ahead in the 42nd minute and doubled their lead in the 54th. Nico Paz reduced the deficit to 2-1 with a goal following a fine corner kick from Arda Güler. Güler also showcased his skills with a brilliant control and shot in the first half, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
